Walking the Royal Mile

The Royal Mile is the entry way to Edinburgh's castle. It's history dates back to the 12th century. At that time Edinburgh's castle was built, the Royal mile was the whole of the 'then,' small village. Today Edinburgh has a population of over 559,000. Below is a photo as we near the castle.

Here is a view from inside the courtyard of the castle. Unfortunately my new knee was too sore after the two days of flights so I stayed in the coffee shop while the others toured (hence no photos of the castle itself). Here's a full walk through video if you'd like to see what the kids and GranTan saw.

And here is a photo of Dylan and Natalie leading us out of the castle and back onto the Royal Mile. The Mile is now chock-o-block of shops and people. We first stopped for lunch before heading back down. We got use to seeing the back of the kids as they darted into and out of shops, not pausing to see if we were nearby...thank goodness for text messaging;).
